Summary of the Website: The PBS website is very engaging! They offer numerous games that go along with children's favorite television shows. The website is full of colors and easy to read words. The games offered are both educational and fun.
Summary of the Game: Every child wants to be a superhero. In this Super Why game, the child gets to chance to create their own version of a super hero as a reward for getting the correct answer. The point of the game is for the child to hear a word being said and make the word using the corresponding boxes. After the word is said, the game says the letter they are looking for and the sounds the letter makes. This makes it easier for the child to choose which letter needs to be used. If the wrong letter is chosen, then nothing happens, which makes the child feel more comfortable playing.
Evaluation of the Game: This game is wonderful of the child who needs spelling help. By seeing all of the posible options of letters in front of you and hearing the letter, it gives the child options to successfully complete the game. Although childish, it may also be helpful for ESL students.
Color: The colors of the game are great. With the boxes all having colors and giving the child the option to choose what color costume their super hero wear no child will be bored playing this game.
Repetition: Each round is exactly the same. A word is given and then the letters are sounded out for the child to click on.
Talking Text: In this game, the child is given the word verbally and must create the word based on the sounds. All of the directions are given to the child verbally.
